Our Late Pastor Tau
Live M. Tau was born in American Samoa on April 21, 1954. He accepted Christ into his life in 1970 at the age of 16, when he was a member of the First Samoan Assemblies of God. He later moved to Hawaii where he graduated from Farrington High School in Honolulu in 1973 and joined the military later the same year. In 1975, he moved to Reno, Nevada.
In 1977, he joined Faith Deliverance Church of God in Christ (COGIC), under the leadership of the late Pastor Willie J. Wynn who was also the founder. While there, he met Patricia Wynn, Pastor Wynn’s eldest daughter whom he married the following year. He is the proud father of 5 daughters, 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. While a member of Faith Deliverance, Pastor Tau served as a Sunday School Teacher, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, and Young People Willing Worker (YPWW) President. He was ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ in January of 1985, and was appointed Pastor of Faith Deliverance (later Jehovah Jireh COGIC) in August of 1985, after the passing of Pastor Wynn.
Pastor Tau served at Jehovah Jireh COGIC for fifteen years. In 2000, he founded Word of Life Ministries, Inc., where he currently serves as Senior Pastor. He has been in ministry for over 33 years. He has also served as the Vice President of the Youth Department for the Nevada Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, Chairman of the Northern District Finance Committee, and a Marshal for the National Church. He served as one of the Administrative Assistants to the Nevada Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop Carruth Hall.
Live Tau attended Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) in Reno, Nevada where he received an Associate in Applied Science in Business, and has obtained a two-year degree in Pastoral Studies from the International Bible Institute and Seminary in Miami, Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in General Studies from Excelsior College in Albany, New York and a Master of Arts Degree in Human Services: Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Live Tau was a Computer System Specialist for 18 years at Sierra Pacific Power Company. He has an exemplary military career over 40 years of service. He has received training on the U.S. Army Casualty Notification Officer/Casualty Assistant Officer, Medical Ministry Spiritual Health, Religious Support in a Joint Interagency Intergovernmental and Multi-National Environment, Strong Bond for Marriage, Suicide Prevention Awareness Program, Battle Mind Training, Reserve Component Unit Mobilization Planner, Defense Hazardous Materials and Waste Handling, Mobilization Validation Course, Global Command and Control System. He is an airborne school graduate, and has served as 422nd Signal Battalion Headquarter Detachment Sergeant. He has also served on a Special Operation Command South assignment in Panama for 6 years, received military training in South Korea, Panama, Honduras and Japan. He was called up for force protection after the 9/11 attack on the United States, and was deployed to Iraq in 2005-2006 with the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team from Hawaii as a Brigade Chaplain Assistant. He served as a State Mobilization Non-Commissioned Officer and State Chaplain Assistant for the Nevada Army National Guard. He was honorably retired from the United States Army on April 2014. He currently an Instructor for the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) at Reno High School in Reno, Nevada.
